Applies to: HiRO H50371 V92 56K USB-C/A Data Fax Modem
Operating
System: Windows 11 (All editions and
builds, including Home/Pro 24H2 and 25H2)
1.
Symptom
When you
attempt to send an outbound fax using Windows Fax and Scan, instead of dialing
immediately, Windows opens a modern printer menu (the Unified Print
Dialog) showing "This app doesn't support print preview."
If you click Cancel to exit this printer screen, the transmission aborts, and you receive the following error message:
"The
message could not be sent. An error has occurred."

2.
Why This Happens
In
Windows 11, Microsoft introduced a modern, AppX-packaged printing interface.
When Windows Fax and Scan tries to convert your document into a fax-compatible
format, this new print dialog intercepts the request. Because the new
dialog runs in a restricted, sandboxed container, it cannot communicate with
the legacy virtual "Fax" printer queue, resulting in an aborted
transmission.
3.
Verified Hardware Compatibility
We have
fully tested our modems under the latest Windows 11 operating systems to ensure
complete peace of mind.
4.
Step-by-Step Resolution
To
bypass the restricted Windows 11 print container and route faxes directly to
your HIRO USB modem, configure Windows Fax and Scan to always run with elevated
permissions. This forces the system to use the stable, legacy print
pipeline.
Method: Always Run as Administrator (Recommended)
1. Click Windows button and search fax
2. Right click on Windows Fax and Scan and click Run as Administrator
